What Is Remapping & Performance Tuning?
Remapping or performance Tunes are modifications to the manufacturer's vehicle tune data. These modifications are mostly downloaded to the vehicle's Engine Control Module (ECM) through the on-board diagnostics 16 pin connector. Later vehicles may need to have the ecm removed to be programmed directly
What are the benefits?
• Increased power and torque
• Smoother delivery of power
• Increased fuel economy in most diesel applications
• Sharper throttle response
• Faster acceleration
• Reduced number of gear changes
Why do manufacurers limit the power output?
The standard manufacturer tune map is a compromise of many of factors. Primarily, the manufacturer must ensure a high degree of engine reliability across the various worldwide markets, taking into account factors such as:
• Fuel quality
• Different servicing schedules
• Different operating environments, such as altitude and terrain
• Local emissions legislation
During testing, manufacturers “manipulate” the tunes constantly to achieve individual results for individual tests, thus compromising the overall smoothness of the original tune. Performance Tunes are optimised for European driving conditions. As long as the correct service schedule is maintained, there is no reason why this extra power cannot be ‘unleashed’.

All of our tune files are checked & tested to ensure that they comply with UK emissions standards.
Can the process be reversed?
Yes the original file is retained & can easily be reinstalled if required.
